TEKGIDA CALLS NESTLE GIDA TO REINSTATE OUSTED 28 WORKWERS

Tekgida protested Vevey, Switzerland based Nestle in front of Switzerland’s Istanbul Consulate. The union supported by the Charter of the Trade Union Unity Platform members, protested Nestle Gida’s acts that contradict with its global commitment to respect the rights of its workers. Tekgida stated that Nestle Gida was not only violating international commitments of its parent company but Turkish constitutional rights and uber national practices.
Tekgida-Is Chairman Mustafa Turkel called Nestle Gida to immediately reinstate the ousted 28 workers that are member of its union and respect fundamental rights of Turkish labourers. He further warned the company to conduct accordingly with framework agreements Nestle has signed and stop abuses of fundamental rights.
A worker dismissed from the Nestle Gida plant made a speech about the misconducts of the company and asked to be reinstated back to their jobs.
Nestle Gida dismissed 28 workers on July 1, 2014, only a week after they resigned from the pro governmental trade union Oz Gida-Is and became members of Tekgida-Is. The shadowy cooperation of the union and the plant managers are reported to be the cause of those dismissals. Tekgida claimed that the pro-governmental trade union asked Nestle
Gida managers to silence the criticism of workers after an unsuccessful collective agreement and the decision given by the company hurt fundamental rights of workers. Turkish workers are free to choose their union and two unions are allowed to take members in
the same plant according to laws but in practice government interventions and company manager misconducts prevent them to enjoy those rights.
